Dining Services in Morris University Center at SIUE is seeking applicants for Snack Bar Attendants. This position involves preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with supervision of support personnel.

What You Will Do
Food Preparation and Service…
• Prepare and serve a variety of food items, including light lunches, soft drinks, ice cream dishes, hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, and chicken, following established recipes and procedures
• Take customer orders, process payments using Point of Sale (POS) equipment, and handle cash transactions
• Assist in the supervision of food preparation, portioning, and distribution, ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines.
Customer Service…
• Greet customers warmly, check ID cards where applicable, and provide friendly and efficient service to ensure customer satisfaction throughout their dining experience
Maintenance and Cleaning…
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in work areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, bussing tables, cleaning table tops and chairs, and removing trash.
Inventory and Stock Management…
• Requisition supplies through supervisor, ensuring adequate stock levels of food and beverage items.
Training and Supervision…
• Train and supervise student assistants and other assigned personnel in food preparation, service procedures, and cleanliness standards.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance…
• Assist in the supervision of equipment maintenance and cleanliness, including regular inspection and reporting of issues to supervisors
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• Ability to pass food handler's examination
• Ability to make accurate and rapid calculations in the transfer of products and cash
• Ability to maintain simple account records and forms
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
• Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
• Ability to communicate information and ideas verbally so others will understand

Work Authorization Information: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
