Pay Range

$76,300.00-$104,900.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The purpose of the Associate Research Engineer's position is to engage in the development of new or improved products and processes. Furthermore, this position provides technological services for operating divisions and other corporate functions as well as production support.

This position’s work environment is primarily in a lab setting with up to 20% travel throughout the year to visit our manufacturing facilities across North America.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Plan, schedule and execute the technological work needed in support of divisional research program objectives and where required, conduct test programs at outside agency locations or customer plants
  • Collect and analyze experimental and quality data to research meaningful, valid conclusions and write reports
  • Devise and/or use new test methods, processes and materials as required to meet Project objectives
  • Determine and define plant equipment operating parameters and formulae needed to insure quality of the product and the operation of the process
    • Determine and define the product properties required to meet divisional objectives
    • Write and submit product proposals and specifications to appropriate divisional authorities
  • Determine if results merit Patent application, discuss results with manager and if appropriate, pursue with Legal Department
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with 1 year of experience operating in a lab environment running tests and analyzing the data, Masters Degree preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of a specialized technical discipline
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to modify standard principles to develop alternative courses of action
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Basic project management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of statistics and specifically designed experiments
  • Solid analytical and quality improvement ability
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Up to 20% travel throughout the year
  • Work environment is typical of a research and development laboratory. When at an agency location or plant, may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds
