Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a local client in need of an experienced Controller to oversee the daily operations of a dynamic and fast-paced accounting department that manages all financial functions in-house. This role will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Finance to develop, implement, and uphold effective accounting practices and policies. The Controller will provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, ensuring operational efficiency, adherence to deadlines, and a commitment to excellence. Additionally, the Controller will partner with Human Resources to address staffing needs, including interviewing and recommending candidates for employment. This role will be 100% on-site at our client's Bethesda, MD office.
Required Skillset:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting AND active CPA
Corporate accounting experience in a large organization
Supervisory experience
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the Vice President of Finance to plan, manage, and oversee the daily activities of a large accounting team.
Work with team members to maintain compliance with established accounting practices and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
Oversee training programs to ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
Foster clear and consistent communication across the department and with leadership.
Utilize project management tools to organize and execute departmental initiatives effectively.
Support the growth and development of team members to prepare them for future leadership opportunities.
Analyze and refine accounting processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Prepare detailed management reports and contribute to the budgeting process.
