JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Accounting Manager provides leadership and coordination of the company’s accounting management functions and supports the Director of Accounting, accounting staff, and department managers. This position ensures company accounting procedures conform to accepted accounting principles.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform duties and responsibilities with integrity and in a professional, fair, open-minded, ethical, and timely manner.
Supervise project setup/revenue recognition per corporate policies and procedures.
Coordinate budget and internal control process by liaising between finance and project control, program managers, and management.
Recommend benchmarks for measuring subsidiary companies' and departments' financial and operating performance.
Provide guidance and leadership to subsidiary operations and accounting staff on consistent and compliant accounting practices.
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget, developing project reporting to compare results to budget by contract.
Monitor all A/R activities, including invoicing, unbilled, and receivables.
Support monthly financial reporting, including updating monthly WIP reports.
Monitor and analyze subsidiary monthly operating results against budget and anticipated contract performance.
Support subsidiary cost proposal activity, preparing estimates, rate letters, ICE reports, and supporting documentation per the company’s pricing strategies.
Participate in establishing and implementing short—and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Participate in establishing and maintaining systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data and enhance the Company’s value.
Provide financial trends and variance analysis, emphasizing contract and project performance.
Work with other finance functional areas to coordinate month-end and year-end deadlines.
May receive assignments from the CFO to assist with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
Provide leadership and development to direct reports and delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
Mentor employees, provide constant feedback, and conduct annual performance reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Ability to meet deadlines; maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Knowledge of revenue recognition and formulas per ASC 606
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
Professional intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards.
Thorough understanding of systems analysis methods and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in computer and database development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or related experience or equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.
Five (5) years of professional accounting experience in a relevant setting with increasing responsibility to include general ledger and job cost accounting; two (2) years of diversified experience in projects, government contracting, and consolidated financial statements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of supervisory experience.
Deltek Costpoint experience with emphasis on project setup and cost pools.
Experience working in government contracting and construction EAC’s analysis.
Experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs).
Salary Range $120K-$140K
