We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Milan, IL. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing our organization's financial operations, reporting, and analysis. This role will be responsible for managing accounting functions, supporting financial processes, and providing leadership within the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and experienced in handling financial transactions within a dynamic operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting entries
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits
Lead and mentor accounting staff to higher levels of performance instilling a continuous improvement mindset within the team
Lead and support financial planning process
Analyze and provide communication to management regarding variances to forecast and plan
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions and drive implementation of process improvements
Assist the Controller in special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis
Full-time onsite availability required
Job Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Experience:
At least 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining internal controls
Excellent communication and leadership skills
D365 Finance and Operations experience a plus
Proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
