Koloma is a geologic hydrogen company that leverages its technology, proprietary data, and human capital advantages to identify and commercialize these resources on a global scale.We are developing technologies that will enable the production of low cost, 24/7 available carbon-free hydrogen. Our team is led by seasoned energy executives and world-renowned technical thought leaders. We are looking for a fantastic Data Engineer to work with our team in Columbus, OH.

Candidate Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in datasets management, preferably in the oil and gas industry, or other sectors that compile databases from diverse data formats.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
  • Implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to integrate geological data from various internal and external sources into centralized data repositories from active lab research.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and approaches such as SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
  • Strong ArcGIS or other GIS software skills, including data analysis, mapping, presentation, and web-based applications (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise).
  • Experience with Azure and familiarity with services such as Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or Google Cloud Dataflow.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability and high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Masters Degree in Geological Sciences or Chemistry with additional studies in Computer Science.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data from diverse sources.
  • Develop and implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data from ongoing geoscience research
  • Monitor data pipeline performance and health, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted data flow and availability.
  • Co-developing APIs, geospatial web applications and dashboards for internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, geologists, land personnel, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, evaluate and recommend new tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of data pipelines.
