The Facilities Engineering Technician plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure projects, facility improvements, and maintenance initiatives across our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for optimizing operation levels by executing and assisting with facility-related projects, focusing on upgrades to critical infrastructure systems such as HVAC, compressed air, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
As part of the Engineering team, this individual will also collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and external vendors to ensure successful project execution. The primary work location is Geneva, IL, with regional travel required as needed to support additional facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritize human and food safety at all times.
Lead infrastructure improvement projects from planning to execution, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Support facility construction, installation, and maintenance efforts, including:
Mechanical and electrical installations for new and modified systems.
Structural and utility work, including framing, drywall, plumbing, and HVAC.
Troubleshooting and repair of facility systems to minimize downtime.
Assist Engineering & Operations in post-project transition:
Support operator and maintenance training on new facility systems.
Help develop work instructions and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
Ensure a sustainable operating system post-project completion.
Support plant-wide initiatives, including:
Infrastructure reliability and improvement projects.
Project documentation and compliance with building codes and internal standards.
Downtime reduction initiatives through proactive maintenance strategies.
Continuous improvement efforts for facility operations.
Collaborate with other Engineering team members on new projects, ensuring operational and maintenance considerations are integrated into facility designs.
Work with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized project support.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Capable of reaching with hands and arms, climbing, and maintaining balance when required.
Comfortable using ladders, scaffolding, and stairs in various working environments.
Strong eye, hand, and foot coordination to safely and effectively perform tasks.
Proficient with personal computers, tablets, and handheld devices for operational tasks.
Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate degree, technical school certification, or completion of an apprenticeship program preferred.
Electrician's license is a plus.
HVAC certification or applicable local licenses for refrigerant handling preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial or construction setting preferred.
Prior experience in the food manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience.
