Position Summary:
Critical Flow Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 15 years' experience in the energy sector, specializing in valves and flow control. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in new product development. This position will work closely with senior engineering leadership and product management to develop new products and adapt existing products for organic growth within Critical Flow Solutions. This role will focus on both transitional energy markets, such as natural gas, emerging green energy markets, and CO2 emissions reduction.
Principal Activities:
You will:
Lead the design and development of new valve and flow control products from concept to production.
Collaborate with senior engineering leadership and the product management to align product development with market needs and company strategy.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for new product designs.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory testing requirements, including API, ASME, and other industry standards as required by the targeted industries and sectors.
Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of new products to ensure they meet industry standards and customer requirements.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal resources to evaluate and select materials that will optimize performance and cost efficiencies.
Manage the transition of new products from development to production creating documentation supporting that transition.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in both traditional and green energy technologies along with CO2 emissions reduction to inform product development strategies.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Support structured mentorship programs designed to develop junior engineers and facilitate technical knowledge transfer.
Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring efficient use of NPD resources.
Collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful product launches.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
New Product Development Success Rate: Measures new products that successfully move from concept to production meeting performance, cost, and timeline goals.
Prototype Iteration Count: Measures number of prototype iterations.
R&D Cost to Benefit Ratio: Compares the total cost of R&D to financial benefits of new product.
Production Transition Efficiency: Evaluates how smoothly new products transition into full-scale production.
Candidate Requirements:
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
You Have:
Demonstrated experience in new product development including transitioning products to production.
Strong understanding of the energy sector including traditional, transitional, and green markets.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and PLM systems.
Hands-on experience with prototyping and first article builds.
Knowledge of ASME, API, and ISO standards.
Ability to manage project timelines and budgets effectively.
Understanding of marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance processes.
Technical writing proficiency, ensuring clear and comprehensive engineering documentation.
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the energy sector, with a focus on valve and flow control systems.
Experience with advanced materials and metallurgy including composites, high temperature and wear resistant coatings would be a plus.
