Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) SME Consultant

About Us

We are growing and looking for an experienced Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) SME Consultant to join our team! This role is an exciting opportunity for a subject matter expert to drive technical excellence and best practices in BDR solutions across our organization.

Position Summary

As the BDR SME Consultant, you will oversee all aspects of backup, restore, and disaster recovery services, ensuring our customers have reliable and optimized solutions. You will provide technical leadership, guide internal teams, develop best practices, and support escalations related to backup and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical owner of all backup and disaster recovery solutions, vendors, and systems.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends to keep solutions relevant and competitive.
  • Develop and implement best practices to optimize customer environments.
  • Ensure compliance with SOC 2 Type II standards.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to align processes and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to staff and assist in onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues efficiently.
  • Effectively communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain IT documentation to ensure clarity and accessibility.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on IT experience
  • Certifications in one or more of the following:
  • Zerto (any)
  • Veeam (any)
  • Cohesity (any)
  • AZ-104 (preferred)
  • Expertise in Backup/DR strategies, including:
  • Veeam (advanced troubleshooting, architecture, and implementation)
  • Cohesity (preferred)
  • Zerto (preferred)
  • Azure Site Recovery (ASR) (preferred)
  • Microsoft 365 backup solutions such as KeepIT (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Technologies, including:
  • Windows Server & Desktop OS troubleshooting
  • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience with Virtualization & InfrastructureVMware ESXi
  • Server hardware (Dell, HPE)
  • Storage solutions (Synology, Pure, Dell PowerVault, HPE Nimble)
  • Monitoring & Security ManagementPatch management
  • Performance monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, SolarWinds)
  • Networking KnowledgeTCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and general network troubleshooting

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Hybrid work model - primarily office-based with remote flexibility.
  • Occasionally lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Local travel may be required.
