Job Description:
We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join our team. This role will support the preparation of accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for sports surfacing projects, including running tracks, tennis courts, and other athletic facilities. You'll work closely with experienced team members to analyze construction documents, coordinate with subcontractors, and assist in developing competitive bids for grading, drainage, and surfacing work. Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Assist in preparing takeoffs and cost estimates for all phases of sports surfacing projects, including grading, concrete, asphalt, and synthetic surfacing.
Review construction drawings and specifications to understand scope and requirements.
Help submit and track RFIs to clarify project details when needed.
Support communication with subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
Collect and organize historical cost data to help build future estimates.
Participate in identifying cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Help prepare and send out bid requests to subcontractors for excavation, paving, and surfacing work.
Attend site visits with senior estimators to assess existing conditions and assist with field measurements.
Join pre-construction meetings to learn about project scopes and client expectations.
Assist in organizing estimate documentation for handoff to the operations team.
Requirements:
1+ years of experience in construction, estimating, or related field preferred-but we're willing to train the right person.
Basic understanding of construction or desire to learn the estimating process.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Comfortable reading or learning to read construction plans and specifications.
Good communication skills and a team-first attitude.
Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits or meetings.
Must be available Monday to Friday during normal business hours.
This is an on-site position.
