The primary role of the Quality Assurance Clinical Reviewer will be to work on the direction of the Chief of General Surgery and the Associate Executive Director to performs tasks and initiatives involving clinical review to assure quality and compliance for patient care within the Department of General Surgery. Below are specific tasks included but not limited to achieving this role:
Manage the Bariatric Surgery Division's Data registry to meet criteria for maintenance of the Kings County Bariatric Center's American College of Surgeons' (ACS) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This task will involve bariatric data collection, data validation, report creation and analysis for all Kings County Bariatric Surgery
Clinical review of general surgery cases (in addition to Bariatric cases as above) within the Department for quality assurance which will involve EMR chart review for data collection, data validation, report creation and analysis. Report creation will not only include data reports such as Microsoft Excel but also writing case synopsis and summaries.
Assist the Surgery Clinical Reviewer (SCR) for the Department's National Surgery Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) to maintenance and analysis of the Department's NSQIP data registry
Assist the AED in Joint Commission readiness for the Department in initiatives involving QA Clinical review.
Assist the AED in other accreditation initiatives and maintenance involving QA Clinical review within the Department of General Surgery.
Assist and coordinate clinical research projects that may involve data collection and analysis for QA Clinical review within the Department of General Surgery.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or an approved systems-related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience in business, government, hospital, educational institution or a non-profit organization in the development, analysis and implementation of systems and subsystems, manual and computer application, of which two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity; or,
3. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in the programs in (1); and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2), with one year required at the supervisory, administrative or consultative level; or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
