Administrative Trainee - Diversity Equity and Inclusion

State of Connecticut Judicial Branch

East Hartford

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking an Administrative Trainee who, under the direction of an employee of a higher grade, will assist with duties of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Unit to develop and deliver training programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices, and they will be able to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting with community outreach efforts, website management, and the planning and coordination of cultural observances and events.

The selected candidate will:

  • Assist with the coordination, development and delivery of diversity, equity, and inclusion training programs for employees at all levels of the organization on topics including but not limited to bias, micro-messages, multigeneration, privilege, etc.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop training plans that align with the Judicial Branch's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address diversity and inclusion gaps.
  • Assist with coordinating community outreach efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion awareness and understanding.
  • Assist with the management of the diversity, equity, and inclusion websites, including content development, maintenance, and updates.
  • Conduct policy reviews and provide recommendations that are aligned with diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
  • Provide support to employees on diversity, equity, and inclusion related matters.
  • Plan and coordinate cultural recognition events.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of diversity, equity, and inclusion training programs and initiatives
  • Stay up to date on diversity, equity, and inclusion trends and best practices.

Preference will be given to those candidates that possess:

  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, practices, and current trends.
  • Experience with developing and delivering training materials and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, course creation platforms (e.g. Articulate 360), and experience with website content management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences.

Salary Range: $66,558 - $85,778/year - plus State of Connecticut benefits.

New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

A Bachelor's or a Master's degree.*
*Note: Incumbents with a Master's degree may be hired at step 2 of the pay group.
