Description:
General Summary:
Administers ionizing radiation therapy to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Collaborates with the physicist, dosimetrist, chief therapist, and Radiation Oncologist in the planning and simulation of treatments.
Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):
A.R.R.T. certification.
Current licensure by the state of Maryland to practice radiation therapy.
BLS certified within the probationary period.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
High school diploma and Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) approved Radiological Technology Program.
At least one year of experience as a therapist in a radiation oncology facility is preferred.
Experience using linear accelerators with multileaf columnators, CT simulators, and HDR therapy is preferred.
Basic computer skills to include data entry and retrieval.
Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift patients up to 35 pounds.
Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Reporting Relationship:
Directly supervised by the Chief Therapist.
Accountable to and evaluated by the Director of Radiation Oncology.
Works under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and physicist.
Works collaboratively with the Registered Nurse.
