We are seeking a talented individual to join our Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in Miami. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The role provides an excellent opportunity for a (partially) qualified actuary to join a market leading team and become closely involved with treaty reinsurance collaborating with the regional broking and analytics team on some of the most important insurance and reinsurance companies in the Latin American and Caribbean regions - in a fast moving and supportive team environment. The role will cover working on existing accounts as well as prospecting opportunities for new business.
As a senior member of the LAC actuarial team, the role will provide actuarial support for sales/broking as an integral part of the process of designing and placing reinsurance structures for various classes of business into the London and Overseas reinsurance market. This role will involve discussion and negotiation with reinsurers in conjunction with the broking team and will engage with clients throughout the region.
We will count on you to:
Analysis of client data, creation of model assumptions and financial analysis and optimization of the client's reinsurance structure using Guy Carpenter's proprietary simulation software MetaRisk
Communication and presentation of results and conclusions to brokers and clients in clear terms, tailored to the audience and providing value-adding service as needed
Support of the renewal process through reinsurance pricing analysis and support of the broking team in negotiations with reinsurers
Establish and maintain relationship with brokers, reinsurers and clients
Support new business development
This role would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, is able to communicate actuarial ideas to non-actuarial insurance practitioners, can develop ideas and is confident putting forward their opinion
Engage effectively with the wider LAC analytics team and other analytical associates across GC including actuaries, Cat modelers, strategic advisors and regulatory consultants
Deliver analysis according to internal analytical quality and compliance standards
What you need to have:
5+ years of relevant experience with general reinsurance or insurance
Partially qualified actuary
Strong analytical skills, ability to apply advanced mathematical / actuarial concepts and techniques to a dynamic environment.
Experience in reinsurance pricing, financial modelling, reinsurance optimization or other relevant experience.
Oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English
Ability to work in a team and autonomously and to build strong working relationships with brokers and clients
Excellent project management skills
Excellent knowledge of MS office, database
Readiness to work in a highly demanding environment with a motivated and international team.
Willingness to travel
