Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries' Fab 9 in Essex Junction, Vermont has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated AMHS Controls engineer to join our 200mm wafer semiconductor factory (fab) automation team. The Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS) provide delivery and storage of product lots across the fab. As a member of the team, you will serve as site controls lead for the AMHS material controls system(s), including representing/leading integrated needs in cross-functional and cross-site teams both tactically and strategically. A successful candidate will have extreme attention to detail to prevent unintended changes or process variations, strong cross-functional engagement and commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for Mobile Robot operating software and controls (KUKA KMR iiwa, Omron)
Provide technical support for installation and commissioning activities for KUKA and Omron mobile robots
Write, test and deploy code for KUKA robots
Calibrate robotic systems to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and safety
Manage and maintain fleet managers
Manage PLC programs (Siemens)
Responsible for fab Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) Material Control System (MCS), Romaric RomaMD
System monitoring, problem investigation and resolution, documentation of issues, provide feedback to GF engineers, technicians, management, and suppliers
Interface with suppliers for problem investigations, updates, and bug fixes
Interface with GF IT support to investigate and resolve server and networking issues related to the MCS operation
Coordinate MCS system updates with Manufacturing, Management, and suppliers
Work with GF IT, Manufacturing, Engineering, Management and suppliers to define requirements for modifications and improvements to the MCS to improve reliability and throughput of the AMHS and accommodate system expansions
Responsible for AMHS equipment operating software including:
Installation, problem investigation, modifications, and upgrades
PRI AeroTrak Controller, PRI Stocker software, Murata LIM Controller, Murata CD200 stocker software
Responsible for additional software systems as the AMHS expands
Lead tactical troubleshooting of AMHS system issues, working closely with suppliers to troubleshoot and analyze log files
Design and implement effective backup and recovery strategies for AMHS systems
Create, modify, and maintain alert systems for various automation systems
Oversee configuration and maintenance of database systems (PostgreSQL)
Lead the integration of overall capability roadmap and requirements specification in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, factory automation team, and suppliers
Contribute to and engage in continuous improvement efforts to enhance systems, procedures, equipment availability, utilization, cycle time, cost, etc.
Create and modify existing training material and procedures in order to provide first class reference material for peers and internal customers
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / Computer Engineering (or a similar discipline)
Experience: minimum 7-10 years industry experience with factory automation / robotics integration
Fluent in English language (both written and verbal)
Strong programming, shell scripting, and data extraction skills including, but not limited to, SQL query for Oracle/Microsoft database
Experience interfacing and integrating AMHS controls with manufacturing factory control systems (eg. MES/MCS systems)
Strong proficiency in data analytics
Good knowledge of basic UNIX commands/other command line utilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to describe complex problems, clearly aligning key stakeholders
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Self-starter, capable of leading and managing complex problems and projects - resourceful, creative and innovative in developing solutions to resolve issues
Ability to lead cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in IT / Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Robotics / Automation (or related discipline)
5-7 years industry experience in manufacturing engineering
Understanding of / experience with semiconductor manufacturing
Experience commissioning and debugging KUKA KMR or alternative collaborative mobile robots
Experience in JAVA programming (other languages also useful, eg Python)
Experience with UNIX and Visual Basic scripting
Proficiency with data analytical/statistical tools such as JMP, Excel/Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, Log Analyzer etc.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, BITBUS communications
Knowledge of PLC and robotic program methods and principles
Knowledge of SECS/GEM protocols
Expected Salary Range
$91,600.00 - $170,000.00
