FSW Software Systems Integration Engineer (MAVIS)

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a skilled FSW Software Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
The Period of Performance (POP) is through 30 June 2025 but will most likely be extended through March 2026 or beyond. This is an onsite role initially with a 9x80 (9,9,9,9,8- 1st week, 9,9,9,9 off Friday-2nd week) work schedule. After two weeks role may become hybrid with two days onsite per week.
Overview
Aegis Aerospace, in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is seeking a flight software (FSW) systems integration engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program. This role will focus on integrating embedded real-time flight software, ground control software, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation within the MAVIS architecture.
As an FSW software systems integration engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the command and telemetry (C&T) database, ensuring software consistency across subsystems, and supporting verification and validation activities. You will also contribute to software readiness reviews and integration planning efforts.

Responsibilities
Integrate embedded real-time flight software, ground control software, and avionics systems within the MAVIS architecture
Develop the command and telemetry database for MAV mission operations, ensuring accuracy of command definitions, telemetry points, and data formats
Ensure traceability between software requirements, verification artifacts, and test results
Review MAV-level software development and integration plans to ensure compliance with mission objectives
Support software readiness reviews, integration readiness reviews, and test readiness reviews
Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) teams to ensure seamless software integration and testing
Work within an agile software development process to develop, test, and validate MAVIS flight software
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must presently be a US Citizen
Must have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, software engineering, or related field from an accredited college is required
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development
Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) software integration environments
Experience with software verification & validation processes
Understanding of software integration planning and software development planning
Strong proficiency in C, C+, or Python for software testing and debugging
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related field from an accredited college
Prior experience working with flight software for launch vehicles or planetary exploration systems
Knowledge of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) software, mission & fault management software, and command & data handling (C&DH) software systems
Systems engineering experience in space systems, launch vehicles, or deep-space missions
Experience following a disciplined model development plan or similar structured MBSE frameworks
Experience working on Mars architecture programs, launch vehicles, or planetary exploration systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools for documentation, communication, and collaboration
