Aegis Aerospace is seeking a skilled Requirements & Verification Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
The Period of Performance (POP) is through 30 June 2025 but will most likely be extended through March 2026 or beyond. This is an onsite role initially with a 9x80 (9,9,9,9,8- 1st week, 9,9,9,9 off Friday-2nd week) work schedule. After two weeks role may become hybrid 2 days onsite.
Overview
Aegis Aerospace, in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is seeking a requirements and verification engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program. This role will focus on defining, developing, and verifying system and subsystem requirements to ensure mission success in alignment with NASA and aerospace industry standards.
As a requirements and verification engineer, you will be responsible for decomposing high-level system requirements into subsystem-level requirements, establishing verification methods, and maintaining consistency across engineering disciplines. Responsibilities
Define verification methods, including test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration, for each requirement
Analyze and allocate system requirements into subsystem requirements for propulsion, avionics, structures & mechanisms, guidance & control systems, & flight software
Support derivation of interface requirements and ensure consistency across multiple engineering disciplines
Establish and manage requirement baselines in coordination with configuration management
Participate in requirements peer reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and feasibility
Work closely with design teams to confirm compliance with requirements and support verification activities
Apply best practices for writing requirements, ensuring they are complete, consistent, correct, feasible, necessary, singular, succinct, unambiguous, verifiable, and focused on "what" rather than "how"
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must presently be a US Citizen
Must have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or related field from an accredited college is required
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in requirements development for aerospace or defense systems
Experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation (NG) for requirements management and traceability
Strong understanding of verification and validation methodologies, including test, analysis, inspection, and demonstration
Experience in writing and managing structured, well-defined requirements
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical, engineering, systems engineering, or a related field from an accredited college
Systems engineering experience in space systems, launch vehicles, or deep-space missions
Proficiency in model-based systems engineering methodologies and SysML tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler
Previous experience supporting Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV), Mars Sample Return (MSR), or Artemis programs
Knowledge of launch vehicle development, propulsion, avionics, or space systems integration
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools for documentation, communication, and collaboration
