Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $134,000.00 - $159,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)
About This Job
The purpose of this job is to oversee the accounting department functions within Equipment Finance and to be the subject matter expert for lease and accounting principles. In addition, this job will require knowledge and oversight of systems used within the Equipment Finance Division.
Essential Functions
Develops knowledge of other employees for accounting issues, sales, use and property taxes, company policy and procedures
Develop and implement custom reports on the portfolio in Crystal, SSRS, or Aspire to enhance efficiency and improve profitability
Research and determine accounting rule changes, updates, etc. with respect to tax or booking policies
Primary contact for any audits, both internal and external
Stays abreast of accounting, industry, and IT developments to assist in making and maximize efficiency of accounting department
Perform file audits to verify data added by others to Aspire
Comprehend requests in order to produce, review, and explain ad-hoc reports to Senior Management
Identify efficiencies within the department; write policy and procedures for the department
Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs
Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively
Support budget management, planning and expenditure
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Subject matter expert for the department with any software such as Aspire, SuperTrump and ability to educate the sales staff on the system
Detailed knowledge of accounting principles related to loan and lease accounting
Strong accounting skills to understand, interpret, and review reports before dissemination
Proficient in the use of back-end system, ASPIRE and knowledge of reports generated by Aspire as well as ability to create ad hoc reports using systems like Crystal
Proficient in HotDocs and the ability to create and to change document templates used by the department. Also, maintain the connection between HotDocs and ASPIRE to expediate document creation
Detailed knowledge of state and local property, sales and use tax laws and ability to research and advise the group on appropriate tax treatment of transactions and respond to and manage subsequent audits
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and similar statutes and ability to ensure policy and procedures are complied with by accounting staff in a timely and accurate manner
In-depth knowledge of the various types of lease structures and federal tax benefits associated with each transaction
Ability to manage diverse job functions simultaneously, work independently, and manage time properly
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional attention to detail
Sales and property tax knowledge and how these rules are affected by various types of leases
Federal income tax knowledge and how these affect implicit rates and tax yields
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems
Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business
Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals

Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years of relevant industry experience relating to accounting, preferably in a mid-ticket ($200,000 to $5,000,000) commercial equipment loan or lease environment for a financial institution, required
7+ years experience with lease types and structures, including documentation knowledge and where to tax structures defined within the documentation required
3+ years leadership/supervisory experience required
Certified Lease Professional and/or CPA required, or qualified and expected to obtain
