Job Summary
The PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) Program Assistant Instructors report directly to the Groups Scholars Program's Math Tutoring Coordinator. As a PASS Program Assistant Instructor, the employee will provide supplemental instruction and learning tools to students enrolled in entry-level Math J010, Math M106, Chemistry C103, or Business K160 classes during the Groups Scholars Program Summer Experience Program.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Attend the PASS Program training sessions and staff meetings.
Observe daily Math J010, Math M106, Chemistry C103, or Business K160 class as assigned.
Create lesson plans and provide supplemental materials to assist Groups participant's need for success.
Schedule and lead Peer Assisted Study Sessions, track attendance and participation.
Participate in analysis and data collection regarding the success of the program.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
At least one year of college with a grade of A or B in one of the following courses: Math J111, J112, M106, Chemistry C103, Business K160, and/or K201
SKILLS
Required
Ability to clearly and effectively explain concepts to college students
Ability to utilize study strategies to teach students effectively and work with students in small group settings
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism
Ability to commit to working scheduled hours
Strong understanding of entry-level Math, Chemistry, and Business concepts
Ability to create lesson plans, provide supplemental materials, and lead study sessions effectively
Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff
Ability to efficiently balance multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines
Familiarity with educational tools and software that can aid in teaching and data collection
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$15.00 per hour
This position is work-study eligible.
Work Hours
15-20 hours per week
Schedules are flexible as they coincide with the Summer Experience Program class schedules and PASS Sessions.
Hours of work should not exceed 29 hours per week across all positions of employment held with Indiana University.
