Litigation Paralegal
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.
We are currently searching for a Litigation Paralegal in our New York, NY office. This position will be responsible for assisting the Firm's attorneys in managing and docketing small to large and complex civil litigation matters in both State and Federal Courts and to interface with Court clerks related to filings and deadlines.
As a Paralegal with our Firm, your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to:
All litigation support activities including electronic filing, docketing, case management, deadline tracking and calculation of relevant time periods related to court submissions.
Establishing clear case organization by administering and managing case materials using litigation support applications and other technologies
Assisting and advising on all aspects of e-Discovery and EDRM workflow, including early case analysis, keyword searches and other analytics, and managing document reviews and productions
Reviewing case related materials (e.g. depositions, discovery documents, pleadings, outside research items, etc.) to create outlines, highlight issues, support productions and logs of all relevant information
Facilitating comprehensive information flow by drafting complex documents including correspondence, subpoenas, legal memoranda and assisting with drafting of pleadings, motions and discovery
Utilizing web-based investigative skills to problem solve and provide creative ideas for developing and implementing winning litigation strategies
Conducting cite checking, shepardizing and online research using various platforms including Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, etc.
Assisting with client or third-party communications
Assisting counsel during preparations for an attendance at mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate preferred
Minimum seven years of experience as a paralegal
Familiarity with Excel, Word and Outlook
Experience with litigation support applications (Relativity, Ringtail, Summation, Concordance, Case Map, Text Map, Time Map, Trial Director, etc.).
Complete working knowledge of Federal and New York (particularly New York Supreme) state procedures and appellate rules and procedures as well as local Court rules and corresponding web-based platforms (e.g. NYSCEF, PACER, FEDERAL BANKRUPTCY COURT, CM/ECF, etc.)
Trial support and knowledge of trial presentation software is a plus
Willing to work in a fast-paced environment
Analytical/detail oriented
Proven work ethic, dependable and reliable
Good verbal and written communication English language skills
Ability to work overtime if required
Ability to multi-task

Pay: $100,000 – $150,000 annually
*Pay ranges are provided in compliance with S9427A, New York’s pay transparency law; actual pay may vary based on a variety of factors, including education, applicable experience, etc.
