High school diploma or equivalent, five years of experience driving a passenger bus, possession of a valid commercial driver’s license with a 24 plus passenger endorsement and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage with the University of South Alabama. Satisfactory completion of drug/alcohol screening required prior to employment. Experience in public transportation or large passenger vehicle preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The University of South Alabama’s Transportation department of is seeking to hire a Bus Driver. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Drives a 12-56 passenger bus from campus to locations off-campus safely according to itinerary.
Operates a passenger shuttle on a scheduled route from campus locations.
Operates a bus on special trips as scheduled which may include overnight stays and working holidays.
Performs daily pre-trip inspections as required.
Fills fuel tanks when needed.
Reports maintenance issues promptly.
Assists passengers with physical deficits on and off of vehicle, ensuring safe transport.
Keeps record of driver log-book and travel expenditures as required.
Performs all other duties assigned by the Supervisor of Manager Transportation Services.
Enforces federal, state and University guidelines for bus riders.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Non-exempt: Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime hours as required.
Related duties as required.
