Under limited supervision, performs varied and moderately complex assignments of the engineering test and troubleshooting function for standard and/or custom avionics devices and test equipment. Provides technical support to Operations teams in the test and troubleshooting of complex avionics products. Interfaces with design engineering teams to coordinate new product introduction, sustaining engineering and product and test improvements. Designs, develops, evaluates test procedures, and assists in the evaluation of the test equipment required to perform quality checks. Prepares recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used for the test, troubleshooting and repair of circuit card assemblies and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Develop and document the HASS and/or ESS for new or existing avionics products, ensuring that manufacturing and repair methods result in the repeatable production of units which conform to type design data. Continually monitor and analyze yield data as a KPI to drive product and test process improvements.
• Develop and document final assembly test processes and/or ATE scripts for new or existing avionics products, ensuring that manufacturing and repair methods result in the repeatable production of units which conform to type design data.
• May Represent Operations Engineering on CCB & MRB, as required.
• Respond promptly to team requests for assistance and be readily available to team for unscheduled meetings and necessary problem solving.
• Train and mentor technicians in electronic theory and troubleshooting, as required.
• Coordinate frequently with design engineering groups to support effective new product introduction and ongoing product and test process improvement.
• Play an active participatory and at times leadership role in daily tactical team standup meetings and in weekly strategic improvement meetings.
• Improve the quality of new products being introduced into Manufacturing through active participation in Design for Manufacturability meetings and involvement in the New Product Introduction process, as required.
• Improve the quality and reliability of UASC products through regular, disciplined reviews of Manufacturing and/or Repair Station data and processes using continuous improvement, six sigma quality, or similar tools.
Minimum Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Optical Engineering, or other technical degree combined with experience.
• 2-4 years minimum experience in an aerospace product design or test engineering role in a high reliability electronic assembly/test/repair environment involving complex analog and digital circuits with embedded software. Experience with programmable logic devices desired.
