  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorshipis not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelors degree in Welding, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

  • Familiar with the specifications AMS2694 and D17.1.

  • Experience with Group 6 alloys.

  • Experience in welding inspection, training, and auditing of process to industry standards.

  • Knowledge of MS Office, Minitab, JMP, excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Howmet Process Management a plus.

Howmet Aerospace, Engines currently seeks an Engineering Process Owner. This person will support the manufacture of Titanium casting product through process control and improvement initiatives specific to the Weld process.

The position is located in Whitehall, Michigan near beautiful Lake Michigan and White Lake, at our Plant 5, Ti-Cast Operation.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for ensuring that the weld processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment specifications as detailed in the Business Unit (BU) manual, business operating procedures, and customer requirements.

  • Educate operators about the process and proper procedures, including creating/revising work instructions and training materials.

  • Foster continuous improvement utilizing Six Sigma methodology, Process Management, SPC to reduce variation and improve capability.

  • Contribute to the development of corporate best practices for manufacturing techniques, control metrics, analysis, and new equipment specifications.

  • Responsible for determination of the root cause of deviation from critical process specifications or downstream product specifications and providing technical support to improve the weld department.

  • Work with facilities and finance departments to plan and execute projects, including capital improvements.

  • Institute proper project monitoring, follow-up, and feedback system to ensure financial and contract targets are met (i.e. yields, rework).

  • Prepare and host NADCAP audits for thermal processes and welding checklist.

  • Maintain GTAW weld systems composing of Weld chambers, Argon purification units, and Vacuum systems.

  • Perform weld inspections to customer requirements.

    • CWI - not required but a huge plus

    • S558 - will be required to hold certification to this specification
      • Candidate must meet the physical requirements of D17.1 for vision. (full spectrum color)




  • Purchasing and maintaining inventory and certification of welding related consumables.
    • Weld wire, Tungsten, Argon, Chambers, Purification units, and Power supplies


  • Maintain certification for weld operators to AMS2694 and D17.1.

  • Support and create activity instructions utilizing the following equipment
    • Weld chambers, MBraun Argon purifiers, and Miller power supplies.


  • Support engineering with joint configurations to drive a path forward to automation.
