Job Summary:
The Credentialing and Initial Certification Manager plans and oversees the Credential and Initial Certification Department with the Executive Vice President and the Director to serve as the first line of supervision for credentialing staff and the array of components leading to initial certification, including residency and fellowship tracking, and the credentialing of the twenty-one initial exam applications. This role is primarily responsible for tracking trainees, applications for initial certification, credentialing processes, team milestones, work procedures, and staffing and training of team members. The position serves as a team leader, supervising staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations, and a cross-departmental collaborator ensuring data integrity, resolving training discrepancies and irregularities, and maintaining accurate records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and oversees the first-line supervision of components related to initial certification, including residency and fellowship tracking, credentialing processes, and coordinating twenty-one initial exam applications, including work procedures and training new hires.
Manages team workflow, daily operations, and communication with internal departments and external parties.
Supervises application workflows and IT processes impacting resident and fellow tracking, as well as initial certifying examination applications.
Ensures integration of policies into daily operations.
Manages historical credentialing records and accuracy of tracking data.
Strictly follows general pediatrics and subspecialty initial certification application review procedures.
Recognizes credentialing exceptions.
Communicates effectively with team members and other CIC management and staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Ensures direct reports adhere to ABP employment policies and procedures.
Writes and conducts performance evaluations.
Advocates for the necessary tools to ensure that direct reports are successful in their respective roles.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required in one of the following fields: Business Administration or Public Health.
Five or more years of experience in credentialing and exam certification and supervisory experience, including staff oversight and management of projects.
Requires excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written (business) communication skills; superior organizational ability; a high level of attention to detail; the ability to facilitate the development and implementation of short and long-range projects; advanced supervisory skills; and ability to establish priorities and accomplish goals in a complex field of work. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) is required.
Experience in monitoring operational procedures and policies, including knowledge of the safeguards to ensure compliance with security and privacy.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to other enterprise software packages, such as Wrike project management.

Special Requirements:
Must be able to work onsite in Chapel Hill, NC, three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Physical Demands:
The expected physical workload is expected to be sedentary.
