Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of substation construction projects in Central Florida. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing substation projects, particularly those involving Nextera or FPL. This role will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the execution of substation construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and clients, specifically those working with Nextera or FPL, to ensure seamless project execution.
Develop, monitor, and adjust project timelines, schedules, and budgets to meet project objectives.
Ensure all construction activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
Provide clear and timely communication to clients, stakeholders, and senior management on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality control.
Oversee procurement of materials and resources, ensuring timely delivery to meet project schedules.
Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring high performance and adherence to project goals.
Resolve any project-related issues, ensuring minimal impact to timelines and budgets.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies related to safety, quality, and environmental management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in substation construction project management.
Specific experience with Nexterra or Florida Power & Light (FPL) projects is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of substation design, construction, and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, NESC, NEC).
Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Ability to manage site-based activities and work with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
