We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of heavy civil, utility, grading, and excavation projects in the Nashville, TN area. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supervising large-scale construction projects, a strong understanding of civil and utility construction, and a proven track record of managing teams, schedules, and budgets to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage field operations for heavy civil, utility, grading, and excavation projects.
Oversee the daily activities of on-site construction crews, ensuring the work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards on the job site, implementing best practices for safety protocols.
Review and interpret project plans and specifications, and ensure that construction work aligns with these documents.
Monitor project progress and performance, addressing any issues or obstacles that may arise.
Manage the quality of work, performing inspections to ensure work is being performed to the highest standards.
Prepare and maintain detailed reports on project status, labor productivity, material usage, and costs.
Resolve on-site issues, conflicts, and challenges, providing solutions to maintain project timelines.
Oversee and enforce safety measures, ensuring a zero-accident environment on the job site.
Manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and deadlines are adhered to.
Track and manage project costs and assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts.
Foster a positive and productive working relationship with clients, stakeholders, and the project team.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Superintendent on heavy civil, utility, grading, or excavation projects.
Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage large teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and safety standards for heavy civil projects.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR, and any relevant certifications or licenses.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and project management systems.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a field environment, including extended hours and physical work in various weather conditions.
