Job Description:

The Software Engineer II works with a team to develop C++/Direct3D visual simulations requiring expertise in 3D graphics, HLSL, and Microsoft DirectX 9 or 12. The role creates training applications for systems like SUBSKILLSNET, VISIT, etc. This involves designing and maintaining software and hardware for submarine and aerial systems training, along with integration with external software and tools. Responsibilities include software development, 3D modeling, multimedia production, and technical documentation to meet governmental requirements.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained for employment.
  
  


• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C++ coding and debugging.
  
  


• Experience with Microsoft Win32 API and DirectX/Direct3D.
  
  

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned.

• Develops applications that emulate the GUI and displays of simulated Navy ship tactical stations.
  
  


• Writes C++ object-oriented code using Microsoft Win32 event-based GUI API.
  
  


• Creates test cases for software applications, and documenting code.
  
  


• Supports senior software developers, media artists and customers as directed.
  
  


• Fundamental coding skills in C++ and 3D graphics. Knowledge of OpenFLT, 3DS Max, or other 3D file formats.
  
  


• Collaborate with a team to develop software using source control. Participates in code reviews.
  
  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or pursuing B.S. in specified fields. A minimum of two to four (2-4) years' academic or professional experience in coding and debugging object-oriented applications.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $75K to $80K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
