University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Engineering Services, is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III. This position will be full-time with a primary schedule of 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Monday-Friday including weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call.
Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment
Inspects, maintains and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and wiring, plumbing fixtures and pipe, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment
Repair and maintain plumbing and fixtures (faucets, toilets, showers, sinks, drains and drain lines), plaster traps, grease traps, maintain centrifugal pumps and associated equipment
Repair and maintain autoclave, sterilizing and related equipment
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all equipment
Repair and maintain water heaters and water supply
Additional duties as required
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment
AND
Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.
