This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority. A Campus Security Authority (or CSA) is defined as an "official of the institution with significant responsibility for student and campus activities". A CSA is required to immediately report any crime that is reported to them to the University Police who will then review, evaluate, and investigate the reported crime. Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

To direct all activities of the Christopher Newport University LifeLong Learning Society, including program development, financial oversight, staff supervision and outreach to on and off campus constituents.
This is an internal posting open to current employees of Christopher Newport University.
Program Management/Development
* Supervise the implementation of the CNU LifeLong Learning Society's overall program, including courses, lectures, field trips, and meetings.
* Serve as primary architect of the LLS course program and staff leader for the LifeLong Learning Society Steering Committee (the membership-elected governing body), the LLS Program Planning Committee and other associated committees. Provide leadership, guidance and board development activities to committee members. Serve as liaison between the Steering Committee and the university administration in all aspects of program planning and development.* Oversee the preparation and executive of the LLS annual budget. Supervise the maintenance of the Society's financial records and submit budget requests for future years. Develop planning and budgeting priorities for LLS. Prepare contracts and/or confirmation letters and business office/payroll procedures for all instructors, speakers, and class coordinators.
* Plan annual calendar of events to include coordinate courses, instructors and classrooms. Develop travel initiatives and arrangements for all field trips with LLS members, including transportation, lodging, entertainment, etc. Supervise the registration of LLS members in courses and special events.
* Recruit, hire and retain instructors and presenters for courses, plenary-session lectures, field trips and other LLS events.
* Supervise all staff and activities of member-center office. Hire, supervise, train and evaluate LLS secretaries, conference coordinator and member volunteers. Maintain LLS database, including a mailing list of membership profiles, and course registrations.
* Spearhead strategic planning initiatives for short and long term programmatic goals, utilizing assessment data and university-wide input.
* Oversee online and in-person member registration.* Partner with Office of Advancement to secure support through philanthropic engagement.
Outreach Activities
* Actively recruit LLS members through community presentations, event attendance and outreach activities. Attend LLS committee meetings, lectures, opening sessions of all courses, and special events to connect with members, guests and potential LLS participants.
* Oversee development of all LLS promotional materials such as flyers, announcements, semester program brochures, newsletters, and the membership directory. Continually evaluate market placement strategies to maximize advertising/publicity effectiveness in target areas. Approve the design and write multiple program brochures each year.
* Establish and maintain rapport with University officials, faculty and staff, as well as other related community organizations.
* Supervise and participate in the planning and execution of approved by the LifeLong Learning Society on behalf of the University. Continue to work with appropriate academic departments on the campus to increase their participation and ownership in these events.
* Develop and enhance co-sponsorship efforts with local regional museums and entities such as the Mariners' Museum, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Jefferson Lab, and others.
* Develops and maintains very positive and professional customer service and relations within the office and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, administrators, other employees, other agency personnel and community members. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports the "Student's First" value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service.
* This position is designated as a "responsible employee" who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.
* Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absence.
