In this role, the candidate will utilize their skills to seek opportunities and develop grant proposals for the Department of Economic Development (DED) to help further their strategic initiatives. The candidate will mine data and analyze statistics from a variety of sources to support their proposals. Additionally, they will use their skills to support the DED's marketing efforts by researching for and collaborating with the marketing team. Under the supervision of the Sr. Economic Development Associate, the Grants and Data Coordinator will receive guidance on priority projects and data requirements for effective grant proposal development. The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker and detail-oriented problem solver. They should have a history of developing successful grant proposals through effective grant collection techniques and technology use. The candidate should also have experience in budget justifications, grant matching calculation, and articulating effective evaluation methods through concise and technical written narratives. It is essential the candidate have the skills and ability to both find the appropriate data and conduct the analysis necessary to craft and deliver effective, results-driven grant proposals. The candidate should have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while understanding that work product will be used as part of initiatives involving multiple individuals and other departments. Examples of Duties

Develops a working knowledge of various local, State and Federal grant programs available for government and economic development entities;
Confers with DED leadership to evaluate grant-funded programs on an ongoing basis;
Prepares grant proposals, evaluations, and program assessment reports identified in aligning with DED strategic initiatives;
Leads the collection and analysis of data to meet grant requirements, including, but not limited to, collection and analysis of economic data issued from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland Department of Commerce, the Census Bureau, and other local, State and Federal government entities as well as open source and subscription-based data, papers, articles, blogs, etc.;
Provides data-based input in development of new initiatives to spur economic activity in the community and formation of targeted promotional and informational activities for the leadership of the DED;
Uses technology to develop Gantt charts to maintain project activity and grant deadlines;
Create industry sector overviews, infographics, as well as digital assets for various stakeholder audiences;
Communicates with department leadership and staff to obtain all information needed to complete grants on a timely basis;
Meets established schedules/deadlines as part of normal routine;
Maintains a variety of daily activities with high accuracy;
Performs other related duties as necessary or as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Teams
Familiarity with grant tracking databases
Strong technical writing and analytical skills
Ability to mine data under deadline for written narratives and budget development
Demonstrated aptitude and ability to research potential grants while successfully and timely completing grant applications for submission
Superior communication, organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in work assignments
Maintains professional conduct, candor and project sensitivity in all assignments and responsibilities
EDUCATION :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field;
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university preferred in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field with an additional two years of the required experience
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in grants management; systems/data analytics preferred.
LICENSE:
Possession of a valid Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points. May be responsible for driving to offsite meetings or events.
SAFETY:
Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manual as required for this position.

Employees hired on or after 7/1/2010 will have an automatic Retirement Health Savings account made available as the primary retiree healthcare benefit. This 105(h) Universal Reimbursement Account will only be able to be accessed upon separation of service and/or retirement whichever applicable.
