Essential Functions

  • Develop and supervise direct reports
  • Furnace repair
  • Plans resource utilization
  • Order melt materials
  • Train the employees on correct melt procedures
  • Develop melt procedures
  • Manage continual improvement
  • Manage pouring operation
  • Maintain the department with a “5S” philosophy
  • Crosstrain employees
  • Reduce/eliminate melt related scrap
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Be knowledgeable of the Company's ISO program
  • Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
  • Implements plant policies, procedures and practices
  • Solves operational problems
  • Manages cost control and cost reduction efforts
  • Administration duties
  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the Manager
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
  • Schedule overtime hours and manage assets as required by changing customer demand.
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned
Requirements:

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • High School degree, Two-year degree or equivalent.
  • Prior Supervisory experience
  • 3 – 5 years melting industry related experience
  • Automotive background
  • Quality TS-16949 related experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
  • Ability to coach and develop employees
  • Ability to deal with multiple levels of people effectively, in group and individual settings
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Basic math and business writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and manage projects to successful completion
  • Ability to learn new programs, activities and tasks
  • Good oral/written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to facilitate small group meetings
  • Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills Knowledge
