The LISA Sr. Multidisciplinary Support supports complex and/or technologically challenging tasks including providing guidance during the task implementation, conducting technology assessments and making recommendations for technology insertions, making trade study assessments, and recommendations, supporting CDR and PDR, and reviewing deliverables, providing technical consultation advice to Task Managers regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments. Leads teams established by the Task Manager to conduct investigations of programmatic or task-level problems and to make recommendations for recovery plans; provides recommendations regarding Mission Assurance-Program Implementation considerations; and provides expertise in space and/or ground hardware and/or software systems for analysis, design, development, integration, test, and validation.
- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and fifteen (15) years of direct engineering experience in the aerospace industry or related fields with specific demonstrated technical expertise in relevant space and/or ground hardware and/or software systems for analysis, design, development, integration, test, validation, and orbital operations.
- Technical team leadership experience and project review experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work in a team, and develop cooperative relationships with NASA and commercial partners.
- Strong mechanical system, and or opto-mechanical engineering experience including familiarization with validation, verification, and testing methods.
- Experience with one or more of the following: high precision laser system development, charge management system development and space-based interferometry missions.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (Green card holder) required.
Work environment and physical demands:
- Primarily office-based work environment. Occasional oversight in integration and test workspaces may be required.
