Scientist/Engineer (BTO) to work in our
Arlington, VA office.

DARPA Biological Technologies Office (BTO) is actively looking for support in the role of Scientist/Engineer. Candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or other relevant discipline related to hematology, systems biology, synthetic biology, and/or molecular biology. Moreover, the candidate, should have sufficient breadth of expertise to make critical assessments of diverse technologies across a range of applications.
The candidate is requested to support the development and management of current and future biomedical programs in DARPA BTO. Existing efforts include: [1] the design and deployment of biomaterials, biomolecules, proteins, peptides, and/or engineered cells as medical countermeasures to prevent and manage infectious diseases arising from both fungal and bacterial pathogens. Future efforts include: [2] efforts to engineer various aspects of red blood cells and their precursors for use as medical countermeasures. The second effort is an interdisciplinary project that may involve the evaluation of technologies ranging from synthetic biology to medical devices. The preferred candidate would therefore have deep experience in one domain and a motivated interest in the other (e.g., background in synbio with an interest in medtech).
