American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV), in Troy, MI, delivers next generation capability, technology and competition to high priority United States modernization programs. Job Summary:
The Controller leads the accounting team at American Rheinmetall and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing internal control framework to safeguard company assets. This position is a key member of the Finance team and reports directly to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
Estimated Salary Range: $145,000-155,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Oversee daily work of the Accounting team, consisting of up to (3) direct reports. Provide strong leadership and support to the team, including carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Review accounting coding used in purchase requisitions/orders created by Supply Chain team to ensure proper and in alignment with how expense was accounted for in budget.
Review customer contracts in collaboration with Contracts and Program Management teams to understand proper revenue recognition for each contract in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
Manage unbilled receivable (i.e. contracts in process asset) balance including reviewing for possible risk or exposure.
Administer company credit card program and related reporting.
Lead month-end close process, including reviewing work performed by accounting team (journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accounting system processing, etc.); ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow).
Analyze current month’s financial results in accordance with corporate format and reporting schedule.
Support the Financial Reporting team with reconciliation of intercompany accounts each month.
Contribute to annual budget and monthly reforecasting processes, including working with budget owners at the business to understand/manage budget available for their organizations by expense account and provide comparison to actuals recorded.
Lead various audit efforts, ensuring proper coordination with auditors on fieldwork schedule and audit request submission; includes external financial statement audits, corporate/internal audits and government audits as required.
Maintain accounting policies, practices, and procedures; ensure compliance amongst both accounting team and teams outside of accounting; assure proper adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations, including Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS).
Maintain hierarchy of organizations, accounts, and projects within the accounting system.
Maintain internal controls to ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported; provide recommendations to strengthen internal control environment as risks are identified.
Provide support as needed to teams outside of accounting, ensuring questions or requests for information/data are addressed in a timely and professional manner by the accounting team.
Act as accounting team lead in the completion of special projects including collaborative company-wide initiatives, as needed.

Supervisory responsibilities with the ability to train/mentor up to 3 team members
Minimum experience/qualifications
5 years of relevant experience as a controller, accounting manager, or similar role including supervisory experience.
Able to manage working in a matrix environment with multiple tasks and supervisors
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Good planning and organizational skills to prioritize workload
Ability to work independently and seek clarification on work assignments/priorities as needed
Ability to work effectively in a changing, unstructured environment and provide suggestions for process structure and improvement
Ability to work in an international environment and different time zones
Computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred experience/qualifications
Certified Public Accountant
Government contracting/defense industry experience desired, but not required
Experience using Deltek Costpoint desired, but not required
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent degree with 5 years of relevant experience
Master’s degree in accounting or equivalent degree with 3 years of relevant experience

Essential Functions:
Accounting –
Maintain accurate accounting records, for Direct and Indirect expenses as well as Allowable and Not Allowed for DCAA Certified Costing requirements.
Coordinate monthly accounting close for ARD and ARS, including preparation of monthly internal and external reports: timely and accurate.
Work with CFO to create and maintain monthly consolidated dashboard for the Hub and Operating companies operating within its structure.
Reporting
Work with Director of Finance to develop monthly data entry for reporting in Germany-based systems for ARV.
Produce monthly financial packages.
Inventory Control
Responsible for maintaining accurate books for materials inventory, including processing invoices thorough the ERP for matching process; follow up as necessary with Procurement and Materials Handling.
Coordinate weekly cycle counts, review and post adjustments to inventory as necessary.
Certified Costing
Maintain updated certified costing rates compliant with DCAA guidance.
Bid Costing
Work with Director of Finance and project team to provide accurate costing for new bids and contracts as needed.
Fixed Asset accounting
Coordinate capital purchases process from requisition creation/approval to posting invoices to FA system and running monthly depreciation process.
Create invoices in System for Award Management (SAM) and Other Miscellaneous Income in NAV as needed.
Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned by Director of Finance
