Primary Purpose: As a commercial representative of the largest natural gas Pipeline Company and 4th largest energy company in North America, the right candidate will represent the company's mission and vision both internally and externally. This position provides the opportunity to interact with senior management, lead negotiations with external customers, and strategically influence revenue decisions the company makes.
Position Description Job Responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement behind the meter (BTM) natural gas strategies to attract and connect Data Centers to KM's natural gas footprint (coast to coast)
Lead and facilitate new interconnections, pipeline expansion(s), linepack and storage services, and potential Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) opportunities with the other Natural Gas regions and Energy Transition Ventures (ETV) teams to support Data Center growth and connectivity
Follow and understand trends in natural gas and power markets to drive demand to the pipelines; including performing market competitor analysis
Identify potential M&A opportunities and facilitate discussion with Corporate Development
Identify prospects, lead negotiations with potential customers and/or counterparties
Coordinate multi-discipline, cross- functional teams comprised of internal departments (including but not limited to Facilities Design, Engineering, Environmental, Land, Legal, Accounting, Marketing and Regulatory) to produce scopes of work, identify projects' risks, and cost and schedule estimates
Evaluate economics for projects, prepare management presentations, and present investment opportunities for approvals
Conduct and participate with others in the negotiations of business transactions, and draft definitive agreements for approved projects
Develop and maintain relationships with new and/or existing customers and other key industry representatives
Be a customer facing commercial advocate for the CCUS segment of the KM Energy Transition Ventures group
Be part of the CCUS due diligence efforts (where applicable) and, where necessary, initial integration
Position Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (required); studies in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Finance
Master's Degree (preferred)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
5+ years of experience in the energy industry, with specific experience in developing new business investment opportunities
Must be able to analyze all aspects of a natural gas business arrangement (technical, financial, contractual, legal, operational and marketing)
Must have well developed oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
Must have the ability to influence without authority by working with a wide variety of people, internally and externally, with tact, courtesy and professionalism while driving for positive results
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential
Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions
Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction
Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies
Workplace is in Houston HQ; Willingness to travel, as needed
Significant experience and business contacts within the natural gas industry
Ultimate job level will be determined based on the successful candidates' skills, qualifications and experience
Experience in the power industry and data center exposure recommended
