About the role:



The Senior Director of Technical Program Management will lead the technical program management function for our Technology Operations PM Team, focusing on delivering high-quality technology solutions that drive business value and align with Walmart's strategic objectives. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex technology projects and programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards. With over 5 years of leadership experience, this individual will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of technical program managers, developing and implementing effective program management processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful outcomes.



What you will do:



* Lead and mentor a team of technical program managers, providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.


* Develop and implement effective program management processes, procedures, and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency across the department.


* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and business stakeholders, to define program requirements, scope, and objectives.


* Develop and manage program budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful delivery of programs.


* Ensure programs are delivered in accordance with Walmart's code of conduct and ethical standards, and that all stakeholders are aware of and adhere to these standards.


* Monitor and report on program progress, identifying and addressing any issues or risks that may impact program success.


* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, engineers, and external partners, to ensure alignment and buy-in for program initiatives.


* Continuously improve program management processes and practices to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation.


* Lead and manage the development of departmental policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with Walmart's policies and procedures.


* Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members to help them grow and develop in their roles.


* Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts, and to leverage resources and expertise to achieve shared goals.


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.


* 15+ years of experience in program management, with a focus on technology and software development.


* At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, with responsibility for managing a team of program managers or similar professionals.


* Proven track record of delivering complex technology projects and programs on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.


* Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.


* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address issues and risks proactively.


* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.


* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve shared goals.


* Experience with project management tools and techniques, such as JIRA, Microsoft Project, or Asana.


* Familiarity with Walmart's technology and software development environment, or similar retail or e-commerce environments.

  • Identifies gaps/opportunities within or between services, tools, and workflows across the architectural landscape and recommends solutions.




  • Establishes innovative approaches to manage delivery plans, and ensure quality outcomes.


  • Develops teams, tools, and methods to transform operations and effectiveness of teams.


  • Defines, owns and drives very complex, large-scale strategic programs/ portfolios and escalates issues to relevant stakeholders.


  • Monitors industry trends and leads futuristic conversations based on strong market research and technical judgment to define the future state of a domain as well as adjust to new risks and changing business needs.




  • Builds, leads and mentors a high-performing team - tracking team productivity, defining prioritization, allocating resources, mentoring associates, and hiring the right talent.

The annual salary range for this position is $208,000.00-$416,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
