Description
As a member of the Human Resources Department, the Training & Event Coordinator will support the planning, coordination, and execution of training and corporate events from concept to completion. Events include, but are not limited to, training courses, employee appreciation events, hosted sponsored events, and the annual manager's training event. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, strong organization skills, and the ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and execute events of varying scale from start to finish
Create and manage event budgets to ensure cost efficiency
Source, negotiate, and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and venues
Post-event analysis to evaluate success, gather feedback, and generate reports to improve future events
Collaborate with team to provide valuable input in support of training goals
Prepare training class materials and coordinate requirements with attendees
Organize and prepare campus meeting spaces for training events held onsite, including lifting and event setup, and post-event breakdown/clean up
Coordinate event registration process and responses to inquiries
Manage monthly anniversary recognition program, including executive signatures on letters and distribution of letters and coins to branches
Order and receive any necessary deliveries for events, such as hosted meals and snacks
Required Skills & Qualifications
3+ year's event coordination experience
Degree in hospitality management, human resources, or related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High level of detail orientation, accuracy, and sense of urgency
Demonstrated organizational skills, coordination skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels in a constructive, professional manner
Keen eye for detail to ensure all aspects of an event meet quality standards
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and internet resources
Strong relationship building skills with teammates, leadership, and vendor-partners
Ability to work effectively independently, as well as part of a larger team
Work Environment
Primary work takes place in a clean and comfortable office setting in Laytonsville, Maryland. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to loud. Generally, a 40-45 hour week, but could require long hours during events, including early mornings and evenings. Events may take place outside, and exposure to various weather conditions is expected. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and stand and walk for long periods of time during event preparation and execution.
