Basic Job Functions:


Nucor Steel Sedalia is seeking a leader for the position of Quality Supervisor. The successful candidate will lead our division in all aspects that pertain to our steel quality and the development of our Quality team. Lead our Quality team and the division's quality certification efforts, be instrumental in quality improvement and new product development, and work cross-functionally with Sales and Operations to address customer specific requirements and product needs. Responsible for setting division quality goals that directly support Nucor Steel Sedalia's strategic intent of Living Injury Free, Developing Our Team, Becoming the Preferred Rebar Source, and Maximizing Profitability. Plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Spearhead new product development, including new micro-alloy usage, and planning and execution of trials. Use of specialized software (KEN, SQL and IBA) to troubleshoot and problem solve. Facilitate Document Control and Training portals. Improving the production process using analytic tools, data, and teamwork to develop and execute actions and projects. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. Uphold safety policies and procedures, assess performance of the team, crew and department. Perform Safety Housekeeping audits as part of the Supervisor Team.




Minimum Qualifications:


Must have a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related technical field and four (4) years of experience as a Process Engineer in the iron and steel industry.

Experience must include:

Leading production, quality assurance and process improvement projects for iron and steel manufacture.

Experience conducting trials on new ores and utilizing management of change. Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis ("RCA"), Cost control and Project Management.

Experience investigating and resolving customer complaints and quality issues in both Iron and Steel. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 quality systems and document control, including training and audit experience.

Experience implementing Total Quality Management, 5S pillars and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to propose and implement process changes. 5 % of domestic travel required.
