About the role


Forterra seeks a Quality Inspector to support our cutting-edge autonomous technology operations in Clarksburg, MD. The primary focus of this role is ensuring the highest standard in electrical assemblies, including cable and wire harnesses, enclosures, and electrical components. As a key member of the Quality team, you will perform in-process, receiving, and final inspections, collaborate with engineering and production teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, this role may be required to conduct inspections on hardware.

Beyond inspections, you will contribute to root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality process improvements—all with the singular focus of ensuring Forterra's autonomous technology meets the highest reliability and performance standards. Whether working hands-on with electrical components, collaborating cross-functionally, or streamlining inspection processes, you will be an essential part of Forterra's mission to deliver innovative, high-quality autonomous solutions.


What you"ll do


  • Perform electrical, visual, and mechanical inspections on wiring, cable assemblies, enclosures, and electrical components.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections to verify compliance with design and quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools and electrical testing equipment (Multimeters, Voltmeters, Micrometers, Calipers, and Plug Gages).
  • Identify and document non-conformances (NCMRs), assist in root cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
  • Ensure products meet IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 standards for cable and wire harness assemblies.
  • Inspect labeling, markings, and dimensional tolerances for electrical assemblies.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement in inspection processes.
    • May interact with suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain and log QA data and inspection records accurately within ERP systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics to confirm compliance with product specifications.
  • Follow established ISO 9001 procedures and company quality standards.


Qualification


  • Basic understanding of electrical inspection standards, wire harness assemblies, and cable testing.
  • Basic understanding with electrical test equipment (Multimeters, Hi-Pot Testers, Insulation Resistance Meters).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and IPC standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to document inspection results and communicate findings effectively.


Preferred Qualification


  • Experience in Defense, Automotive, Aerospace, or Medical industries.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Experience conducting first article, in-process, and final inspections in a production environment.


Education & Experience


  • High School Diploma and/or GED and/or equivalent education.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in electrical or mechanical manufacturing.


US Hourly Range
$27-35/hour


Location:
5 Days a Week Onsite in Clarksburg with Occasional Travel up to 10%

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more.
