Work Location: New York, NY, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. What you will be doing:
The Operations Product Engineer is tasked with supporting lifecycle management and continuous improvement activities for currently produced products. This includes lab testing of product samples, prototyping, maintaining CAD & documentation, developing/improving processes, and collaborating with manufacturing partners.
Review and update CAD & documentation of existing products in preparation of creating new production tooling. Then review and approve tooling drawings.
Execute test plans to prove design functionality, durability, manufacturability, and reliability of parts from new tools.
Create prototypes to validate changes.
Design experiments to test finished products and individual components.
Design and build test apparatuses to suit specific needs.
Record, file, share, and present test results.
Communicate with and guide international manufacturing partners.
On-board new manufacturing partners by communicating and reinforcing company processes, requirements, and expectations.
Collaborate with project managers, quality team, manufacturing engineers, and product teams to ensure product and project goals are met.
Identify and implement product improvements and cost-savings initiatives.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective project management, collaboration, and communication abilities.
Ability to communicate ideas clearly through sketches and email (including to others where English is their 2nd language).
Desire to make a true impact on the organization through engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or relevant industry.
2+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience in a professional product development/engineering environment.
Experience with CAD (SolidWorks or Creo), prototyping, and 3D printing.
Previous exposure to product manufacturing: plasticinjection , sheet metal work, silicone molding, and die-casting.
Experience with Asian and North American manufacturing and sourcing.
Ability to travel internationally/domestically (up to 15%).
MS Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Molded part design.
Experience working in the consumer goods realm.
In California, Colorado, and New York City, the standard base pay range for this role is $ $55,796 --$126,663 annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
