Job Description:

University of Iowa Health Care Supply Chain Department is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator. This job supports the daily requirements of the Supply Chain Department based on strategic needs and staffing demands. Duties include but are not limited to: Manage/perform foundational supply chain processes (ordering, receiving, stocking, supply triage/investigation), support efficient supply management, participate in process improvement, utilize technology to assure efficient supply chain functions and assessment. This position will provide functional and/or direct supervision of staff.

This position will be responsible for serving cross coverage or floating in other areas within the Supply Chain Department

Duties will include:


  • Procure and deliver goods and services: Support the day to day purchasing, receiving, and monitoring of supplies for multiple UIHC business units. Provide end-user support for all things related to Supply Chain affiliated areas. Triage order and supply issues.

  • Receiving of product: Support daily oversight of Supply Chain Department centralized receipt of goods. Properly vet all freight coming in through Supply Chain Receiving, systematically receive goods in Peoplesoft/ePro, deliver received goods to appropriate end destination.

  • Inventory Management: Support inventory controls; determine reorder amounts. Analyze supply usage/purchasing trends and make recommendations to optimize stock/inventory:

  • Vendor and Customer Relations: Interact with vendors/suppliers as needed to resolve customer concerns and obtain product as needed. Assist with the daily vendor check-in process.

  • Data Management or Data Systems Development: Utilize and access all Supply Chain related tools and accessories as provided/maintained by the Supply Chain Data and Analytics Team. Assess and assist with reporting tool and resource development, recommendations, etc.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Perform quarterly and fiscal inventory. Assist with periodic and perpetual inventory counts and adjustments as needed.

  • Leadership/Supervision: Will provide functional and/or administrative supervision of staff. Provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.

Schedule: 1st shift 8:00am - 4:30pm (Flexible) Monday - Friday


Pay Grade: 3B https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/guide-pay-plans

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 1-3 years of related supply chain experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creating working relationships with team members such as providers, vendors, and staff.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft, Purchase Requisitions, Epic, and Omnicell.
  • Knowledge of University Purchasing and Supply Chain.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and operational improvement in a hospital setting.
