Position Overview
As a Lab Robotics Engineer, you will be instrumental in automating and optimizing sample processing workflows. You will take ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions across a network of laboratories, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
Responsibilities:
Develop production-quality Python software to control robotic systems and integrate with laboratory instruments.
Design and implement robotic automation solutions, utilizing hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and custom electronic/mechanical components.
Collaborate with scientists and engineers to refine and scale laboratory protocols through automation.
Manage and monitor a fleet of robotic systems, identifying and addressing issues to ensure reliable performance.
Qualifications:
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
3+ years of experience programming in Python (experience with Flask/Django is a plus).
1+ years working with lab automation and liquid handling robots (e.g., Opentrons, Hamilton).
Familiarity with molecular biology protocols and at least 1 year of hands-on lab experience.
Experience optimizing and automating laboratory workflows with embedded systems and hardware components.
Proficiency in orchestration and software deployment for multiple devices (e.g., Docker, Ansible).
Experience writing software for Raspberry Pi.
Experience designing and maintaining QA, telemetry, and monitoring systems for device stability.
Familiarity with Linux servers.
Experience with 3D modeling & CAD (e.g., Fusion 360, 3D printing).
Basic knowledge of computer vision (e.g., OpenCV).
(Preferred) Interest in biotechnology and DNA sequence analysis.
