Today we manage a group of our own brands as well as client-owned brands. Our third-party (client-owned) brand portfolio spans multiple categories with brands in a variety of stages of their lifecycles in the U.S. market - from emerging brands to established specialty brands.
World Finer Foods has an opening for a Manager, Contract Manufacturing & Sourcing. The successful candidate will have an analytical and detailed-oriented mindset combined with contract manufacturing expertise and experience in negotiation, achieving cost savings, building co-packer partnerships, and handling legal manners. Ideally this person will join us with a holistic background in different areas of supply chain management.
This individual will oversee the manufacturing and production relationships that are vital to the success of our specialty owned brands portfolio, with responsibility for: • Actively developing relationships with and managing supply chain partners, which includes manufacturers, co-packers, corresponding legal contracts, etc.
o Partner with strategic sourcing and owned brands marketing teams to optimize specialty portfolio's strategy, quality, and budgets.
o Manage sourcing, qualifying, negotiating contracts and onboarding new contract manufacturers.
o Develop scorecard for supply chain partners to assess quality-based KPIs and metrics.
o Research, shop, and negotiate manufacturers for optimization of quality and costs, managing multiple relationships as needed.
o Build and maintain master database of supply chain partners and corresponding product specifications, raw materials, construction materials, packaging elements, etc.
o Manage/maintain project specific budgets. Track expenses and billback partners as needed.
o Set/meet deadlines and proactively track project progress.
o Hold external partners and vendors accountable for commitments. • Product development and innovation of new launches, packaging designs, or channel-specific offerings.
o Research & develop new products and/or packaging in collaboration with strategic sourcing and owned brands marketing team, based on consumer data and market trends.
o Develop new product briefs, locate sources to manufacturer new products and adhere to specification requirements (formulations, quality, costs, certifications, packaging format, production lead times, MOQs).
o Support category strategy updates for short- and long-term strategic vision of owned brands portfolio; including researching and vetting potential partners for category expansion.
o Engaging and negotiating with co-packers to create packs that are compatible with club, ecommerce, or gifting channels, including pricing requirements. • Supply chain management of inventories, packaging elements, production runs, etc.
o Managing and reconciling inventory across several supply chain partners.
o Optimizing production and organization of contract manufacturers. • Other duties as determined by management.
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have supply chain, contract management, and product development experience in the food and beverage industry. Background in managing relationships with contract manufacturers and co-packer management is required, including resolving issues such as pricing, shortages, delays, and quality assurance. Understanding of relevant legal matters relating to co-packers will be imperative, including supplier contracts (current and prospective), booking contracts, and California Proposition-65 law. Expertise in concept production briefing and co-manufacturing for new product development and category expansion is also required. An existing network or knowledge of best sourcing locations/partners globally for product development is preferred, with a focus in shelf-stable vegetables being a plus. Individual should be able to work both autonomously and in a team environment and proactively deliver business solutions. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an ever-evolving environment and will bring a positive attitude to the team.
Requirements: • Exceptional time management, project management, and organizational skills • Technical skills and understanding of necessary manufacturing equipment and methods to deliver product development • Strong quantitative skills • Ability to research vendors and copackers and negotiate contracts • Strong negotiation/persuasion skills • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills • Strong computer (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) skills • Attendance of private label and tradeshows. • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% for shows and supplier meetings (PLMA, Anuga/Sial, Peru, new international suppliers).
Experience: • Experience working with and negotiating multiple contracts and supply chain partners. • Minimum of 5-7 years across supply chain disciplines such as logistics, contract management, product development, supplier management, purchasing, and/or project management. • Food and beverage industry (CPG and/or specialty) experience required, preferably with sourcing shelf-stable vegetables.
Education: • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in supply chain, entrepreneurship, or related business fields. • MBA is preferred.
