POSITION SUMMARY
Juxtaposition Arts (JXTA) is a vibrant, youth-centered, and Black-led nonprofit arts organization in North Minneapolis. JXTA combines community-based art and design education, creative employment opportunities, and community engagement to build pathways to education, employment, and creative entrepreneurship for youth and young adults. Since its founding, JXTA has been a hub for creativity, innovation, and social change in the Twin Cities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
Lead the development and execution of JXTA's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and values.
Strengthening JXTA's role as a regional and national leader in arts, education, and community development.
Foster an inclusive and equitable organizational culture.
Organizational Management
Day-to-day operations, including programs, staff, and facilities.
Manage, support and develop a talented team, including senior leadership, key contracted positions, and administrative staff.
Evaluate program performance and effectiveness. Explore opportunities for new program creation and development.
Manage relationships with key vendors
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.
Fundraising and Financial Management
Lead the creation and management of annual operating budget ($3.5MM)
Develop, implement and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including grants, individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and earned revenue.
Ensure financial sustainability through effective budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Cultivate relationships with key funders, stakeholders, and community partners.
Community Engagement, Communications & Advocacy
Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for JXTA, representing the organization locally and nationally.
Create and coordinate media strategy
Manage the public projection of JXTA's brand and ensure stylistic consistency and feel of JXTA programmatic and communication outputs.
Build and sustain strong relationships with North Minneapolis residents, artists, youth, and community organizations.
Advocate for policies and initiatives that support arts education, creative entrepreneurship, and equitable development.
Board Collaboration
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set organizational priorities and goals.
Report regularly on the organization's progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Support board recruitment, development, and engagement efforts
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit, arts, education, or public sectors.
5 or more years of experience managing and evolving programs
Strong strategic planning, organizational, and financial management skills.
2 or more years supporting, developing and executing fundraising initiatives
Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
Knowledge of and connection to North Minneapolis or similar communities is highly preferred
A deep commitment to JXTA's mission and values, including equity, inclusion, and community empowerment
EQUITY AND SALARY DISCLOSURE
We believe in practices that create real equity and pay parity regardless of background or identity. We freely discuss compensation with all qualified candidates the first time we interview them. The expected salary range is $140,000-$160,000, depending on qualifications. Other components of compensation include:
