XBiotech is looking for a motivated and skilled researcher for an Immunologist and non-clinical assay development position in the infectious disease research area. Qualifications • Ph.D. with 5+ years post-doctoral experience in immunology, microbiology or a related field. • Experience in bioactivity assay development and neutralization assay design for therapeutics against a variety of pipeline bacterial and viral disease targets. • Experience working with aerobic and/or anaerobic pathogenic bacteria is required. • Experience working with virus propagation, plaque reduction neutralization assay is required. • Experience in method development, optimization and validation of assays as a read out of an infection model is needed. • The candidate must demonstrate good oral, and written communication skills. • Must be able to manage multiple simultaneous project assignments. • Very positive interests in keeping up to date with new technologies and developments. • Ability to work well independently or in a team environment with minimal or no supervision. • Work may include weekend and off-hours. • Passion for what you do.
Key Responsibilities • Direct scientific responsibilities include the design and execution of scientific research associated with XBiotech's current and future assets to support successful development of new medicines according to current industry standards and regulatory guidelines. • The candidate will be responsible for planning, executing and summarizing data generated from pre-clinical assays to support efficacy of novel anti-infective and anti-inflammatory antibodies, and to elucidate their mechanism of action. Direct laboratory efforts for bioassay, immunoassay, bacterial/viral neutralization assay development, optimization, validation and analysis support for preclinical studies as required. • Perform in vivo experiments in animal models of diseases and perform ex vivo experiments with blood and tissues from the models. • The candidate will prepare protocols, standard operating procedures, and other documentation necessary to conduct assigned experiments. • Demonstrate scientific rigor, maintain lab notebooks, and comply with good laboratory practices.
Other • Prepare high quality scientific reports or presentation at R&D meetings. • Ensure that studies are completed in accordance with project timelines. • Other duties as required.
