DNV Energy Systems is seeking a Principal Consultant, with an emphasis on Process Hazard Analysis, Process Safety, Process Safety Management Systems and Risk Management. Principal Consultants must be equally comfortable working independently, working in teams, and collaborating virtually with minimal supervision as well as directing the work of less experienced consultants.
A successful candidate will have extensive experience conducting complex process safety risk assessments, including faciltating HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops. The candidate will be an expert with several aspects of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments involving tools such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowties, CFD and others. This work involves programs including but not limited to PHA Pro, Phast, KFX, and FLACS.
Most clients are in the oil and gas sector but include other process industries and increasingly focus on low-carbon products like CO2, H2 and Ammonia. One area of future work involves enhancing existing risk assessment tools and techniques by incorporating forward climate models into the analyses.
This role is based at our DNV office in Katy, TX presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. What You'll Do
Lead quantitative and qualitative risk assessments for a variety of customers in the process industries, especially the oil & gas sector
Act as project manager, coordinating resources and personnel both from within the team and from across the DNV global network, within the constraints of time and budget to achieve project objectives
Interface with regional clients and maintain client satisfaction by delivering results
Support DNV business development efforts
Demonstrate thought leadership in risk management by participating in conferences and writing papers or articles

What is Required
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (physical sciences or engineering)
10+ years of related professional work experience
Familiarity with the oil and gas sector, especially LNG assets
Track record of conducting risk workshops using techniques like HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA.
Demonstrated project management experience for complex projects
Demonstrated consulting skills, including a track record of successful engagements
Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills in the English language
Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time, which at times may last an entire work week or more, and may include weekends for longer assignments
Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to rent and drive a car, and also travel on public conveyances when required
