OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY (IN-OBGY-IUINA)



Department Information



The mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine is to advance the health care of women in the State of Indiana and further impact the quality of women's health care both nationally and abroad. With a steady commitment to recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty, fellow and resident population to better serve the community, the department is educating the next generation of OB-GYN physicians and improving women's health in Indiana.


The department has a long history of outstanding education, clinical care, quality improvement, and basic, clinical and translational research. The IU School of Medicine OB-GYN teaching faculty and appointed clinical faculty at all 9 campuses throughout Indiana are eager to teach and have medical students as part of their teams.



Job Summary





  • Assists with advertising, connections with community organizations and other information for participant recruitment; assists in developing and sharing education and informational resources.

  • Provides community awareness and recruitment assistance on a project to increase access to contraception within the state of Indiana (PATH4YOU, (Pregnancy At a Time that is Happy and Healthy 4 You) www.path4you.org).

  • Works on establishing relationships and knowledge of the PATH4YOU program within the Northern Indiana geographic area.

  • Distributes flyers, postcards, business cards, etc. at locations that would be beneficial to reach potential participants.

  • Provides in-person or virtual presentations when requested by various referral locations.

  • Participates in local events that are applicable to the larger issues of healthcare access and equity.

  • Represents PATH4YOU at local events as they arise.

  • Establishes relationships and referral pathways for organizations and individuals to access PATH4YOU services.

  • Works with local PATH4YOU site partners to promote and facilitate in-office recruitment for PATH4YOU patients as well as garnering support from local establishments.

  • Represents PATH4YOU at various community events including health fairs, expos, city based events.

  • Builds community partnerships and is comfort with promoting the PATH4YOU project.

  • Triages communication from organizations in the Ft. Wayne, Indiana area.




Qualifications



EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in science or health-related field) OR

  • 3 years of college-level science plus 2 years patient-related or research experience OR

  • Associate degree in allied health profession plus 1 year of patient-related or research experience OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED of GED) plus 3 years of patient-related or research experience that includes 2 years of experience with clinical studies


Preferred



  • 2 years clinical or research experience

SKILLS



Required



  • Proficient communication skills




Working Conditions / Demands



The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.


Eventual travel across Indiana may be required to various study sites and around campus


(In state travel up to 10%, In county travel up to 50% between clinics and community partners)



Additional Information




Note: This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.



Work Location



Northern Indiana


This position is eligible for remote work, subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
