The Senior Track Test Engineer is responsible for leading and conducting vehicle tests to assess performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves hands-on testing, precision driving, data analysis, and reporting, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting test equipment. You will work with vehicles in various stages of development, ensuring high-quality test execution and compliance with established protocols. Additionally, you will provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies.
This is a high-energy, dynamic role requiring personal initiative and adaptability. The work environment includes both office and on-track settings, with physical demands such as walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, are essential for this role. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
What will you be doing?
Vehicle testing: Lead and conduct track tests to evaluate vehicle performance, including precision driving maneuvers and operation of specialized track equipment (e.g., steering robots, braking robots, robotic platforms, soft targets), ensuring strict speed and position tolerances for accurate results
Data analysis: Collect, analyze and interpret vehicle dynamics data (acceleration, braking, cornering, stability) to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards
Reporting: Document and summarize test results in detailed reports, providing clear, concise and technically sound findings for customer review and further development
Collaboration: Interface with clients and internal teams to ensure seamless test execution, clarify procedures, address non-conforming test results, and support cross-functional coordination
Equipment maintenance: Operate, maintain and troubleshoot test equipment, including robotic vehicle controllers and computer-guided targets, while assisting in the design, fabrication, and implementation of specialized testing tools
Safety compliance: Ensure all testing procedures adhere to industry safety regulations and protocols, maintaining a strong commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and/or 4 years of relevant experience
Hands-on experience with ADAS test procedures and equipment, including AB Dynamics GST or 4Active pedestrian target systems
Ability to read and interpret high-level test requirements
Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting mechanical, electronic, and guidance systems
Proficiency in physics, electronics, dynamics, mechanical design, and data protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet)
Experience with MATLAB or other coding languages is a plus
Proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel and Word.
Strong attention to detail, ability to maintain client confidentiality, and excellent communication skills
