Description: Our manufacturing client is currently seeking a Process Engineer for their plant in Charlotte NC. The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing operational processes, data, and results to identify, design, and implement effective improvements in the manufacturing area. This role is critical to delivering successful manufacturing results through the ongoing development and communication of manufacturing processes that support business volumes, new product introductions, capacity and capability changes, and customer expectations. This position will interface with management in various departments, including R&D and supply chain, in addition to daily interaction with the Plant Manager and other members of the operations team.
This is a 100% onsite position and typical hours are from 8am-5pm Mon-Fri.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Maintain control of production recipes in Process Control and ERP Systems.
Monitor daily production and adjust recipes to ensure products meet specifications, in consultation with Research and Development and Technical Service.
Investigate and troubleshoot process deviations, leading multifunctional teams as needed, and recommend or implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Assist the Project Engineer in developing justifications for capital requests or requests for engineering or technical assistance.
Design, estimate, and implement process capital projects.
Recommend and coordinate process changes to achieve cost reductions, yield improvements, and quality enhancements, aiming for continuous improvement.
Evaluate the utilization of materials, manpower, and equipment for optimal efficiency and productivity at the lowest cost for existing and proposed installations.
Conduct process improvements and yield study analyses.
Participate in and potentially lead programs related to process control, process development, operator training, and other assigned areas.
Review process recipes for scale-up accuracy and manufacturability.
Assist in the coordination of scale-up and optimization of new and existing products.
Evaluate the need for and implement process control computer program changes.
Assist in preparing the capital budget.
Participate in and lead EHS and PSM initiatives such as PSI development, PHA reviews, Operating Procedures development and maintenance, Training, PSSR's, SHE reviews, MOC, and Accident Investigations.
Lead efforts related to PSI, PHA, and Operating Procedures.
Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management.
Lead and manage process improvement projects as part of our Continuous Improvement culture.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum of B.S. in Chemical Engineering required.
Six Sigma Black Belt certification highly preferred.
5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience in a batch organic chemical or emulsion polymerization environment preferred.
Proficient working experience with process control PLCs and batch programming language required.
Analytical ability to review processes and identify improvements.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
High energy level, goal-oriented, self-starter with a willingness to think "outside the box."
