Basic Job Functions:

• Provide leadership in all Environmental matters for Kirby including maintenance, recording keeping, and auditing of Environmental compliance programs.
• Work in a team setting or independently on projects.
• Work with Environmental consultants, Federal, State, and Local agencies on all environmental compliance (permitting, reporting, and correspondence).
• Represent Kirby at Corporate and NBG Environmental meetings, training sessions, and plant audits. Moderate travel may be on short notice.
• Lead and maintain division EMS.
• Teammate and contractor training and recordkeeping.
• Oversee handling, recycling, and disposal of all waste streams (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal, and general).
• Lead environmentally related community outreach projects.
• Track and submit division metrics as related to Corporate requirements/PEA award statistics.
• Represent Kirby in Local Emergency Planning Committee (state/local level).
• Provide backup support to other departments as assigned.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.




Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• One year experience and/or training in an environmentally related discipline.
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Valid driver's license.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Environmental related field.
• Manufacturing experience.
• Ability and desire to move into an Environmental role at other Nucor divisions.
